Gluten Free in Barcelona
Barcelona has been my favourite city to eat in so far. Almost everywhere catered for gluten free, which was a great surprise. They even had gluten free McDonald’s which was possibly one of my favourite meals as I’ve not been able to have one in years. The gluten free options here were amazing, this is how it should be in the UK as well coeliacs need to eat too!
One of my highlights here was definitely a gluten free crepe that I had, it was so good I was questioning if it actually was gluten free, as soon as somethings not dry and crumbly I’m worried but it was completely safe. One of the things I miss most since becoming celiac is desserts I’ve always had a sweet tooth and it is so rare to find cakes, biscuits, crepes ect. There we’re gluten free bakeries in Barcelona that were unlike something I have never seen, they alone make the trip worthwhile, even my friend (a non-celiac) said it was one of the best cookies she has ever had which says a lot. I was planning on taking a few home with me but they were long gone before I was on that plane.
Me and my friend are both fussy eaters, which is extra tricky when you don’t really have much choice in what you eat, but we both made a point of trying paella outside the sagrid familla and it pleasantly surprised me was another thing I can add to the list and say I enjoy. One of my favourite things to eat is a Chinese I will often have to consume some gluten when I have a Chinese it’s debatable weather it’s worth it or not, but in Barcelona I was able to get a completely gluten free meal where me and my friend could share because the food was automatically gluten free. Overall, I really recommend Barcelona it’s a super easy place to find places to eat and they all tend to be nice.
